Amethyst Thormann is a Los Angeles trial attorney with Tauler Smith LLP.

As a key member of the Tauler Smith litigation department, Ms. Thormann has a deep commitment to public service and is passionate about advocating for vulnerable populations. Her legal background spans employment law, privacy law, special education law, and civil rights litigation.

Background

Before joining Tauler Smith LLP, Amethyst Thormann served as an Administrative Law Judge with the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board. She presided over contested benefits hearings and issued legal decisions on unemployment insurance claims and disability insurance claims.

Additionally, Ms. Thormann previously served as a Staff Attorney with the California Labor Commissioner’s Office (also known as the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement). She advised the Division on employment law and related procedural and legal matters. She also litigated wage & hour cases that involved violations of the California Labor Code.

Earlier in her career, Amethyst was a Staff Attorney at the Disability Rights Legal Center (DLRC). She worked in the DLRC’s Civil Rights Litigation Program, where she represented clients in disability discrimination cases and advocated for students with disabilities to obtain appropriate educational services and accommodations under federal and state law.
